After being raised to be serious, respectable, and dependable, she decided it was time to figure out what she wants in life.So far, she's discovered that she's still particular about the way she likes things done, from her hairstyle to the way she cleans her weapons to her Chocobo's barding. Her history as a seamstress has made her appreciate small details and fine fabrics. Her whimsical and colorful fashion choices are at odds with her more reserved first impression. She can come across as icy or stuck-up to those who first meet her, but it’s to hide her lack of experience in the world. She warms up to those she gets close to; not one for declarations, you’ll know you’re in her good books when she mends your tunic or takes care to make an outfit she thinks would suit you.Gav has found that the lack of expectations of a nomadic life suits her.. The fact that she spends most nights getting belligerently drunk at the nearest tavern with her current theater troupe or ball is not to avoid the quiet, aching guilt of abandoning her duties. ❝ Gavoix was born to a line of tailors who scrimped and saved enough to eventually own and operate their own tailoring shop, Guitaire Atelier. As the eldest child, she was expected to take over the family business and spent her whole life training for the position. Gavoix couldn’t remember a time before she held a sewing needle in her hand, and was expected to hone her craft to the neglect of everything else. Striving to meet her family’s expectations, Gavoix poured her soul into learning to be as great a seamstress as her grandmother and into becoming the respectable, responsible young woman they wanted her to be. This made her an isolated, reserved child with little knowledge of the world beyond the Atelier. Her only friend was her younger brother, Honoroit.On a rarely permitted trip, Gavoix discovered the theater. She was enchanted by the opulence and extravagance of the costumes - the brocades and shimmering pearls sent her imagination into overdrive. Charmed by the actors’ charisma and escaping into the story, Gavoix dreamed of being a part of that world.Her newly inspired designs and love of the theater were disparaged by her parents, who found the performing life would bring shame to their family - and ultimately, Gavoix would need to run the store. Putting her wants aside, Gavoix rose to the occasion and focused on learning to run the family business and keeping her fantastical costume sketches and stolen trips to the theater a secret.One day, Gavoix’s parents announced that they were sending Honoroit away to work for a merchant. The Atelier was struggling, and the family needed money. This crushed Gavoix, and she resented her family for separating her and her brother. The resentment festered until the day her parents told Gavoix of her impending arranged marriage to a wealthy client. The man was immature and spoiled, and Gavoix couldn’t imagine spending the rest of her life in a loveless marriage chained to Gutaire Atelier.With nothing left for her, Gavoix gathered her courage and joined a traveling theater troupe as their costume maker. Finally able to make her own designs and without the overbearing expectations of her family, she felt freedom for the first time. Changing her name to Gav and undergoing viera-fication, she’s tried to embrace learning about the world around her and trying new things. Over time, she began traveling on her own, bouncing between short stints with different troupes and picking up commissions in towns she stopped in. The company she keeps finds her in bars more often than is advisable, but she finds that liquid courage is the only thing to help her overcome the awkwardness stemming from her unsocialized childhood.Gav was not happy to have her freedom compromised by the Scions and becoming the Warrior of Light. While she’s grown to care for them like a surrogate family, she would much rather be fishing, glamming, or sketching out new clothing designs. Battle strategy to Gav means bashing something with brute force until it leaves her alone.
